South American Inventory of Military Exercises
The line of investigation on the “Regional Inventory of Military Combined Exercises” is focused in the diagnosis of the situation and the regional trends in the matter of participation of combined military exercises during the last five years.
The design of this line implied the elaboration of i) a methodological scheme consistent with the specificity of the study, ii) the terms of reference and the concepts of the required information, and iii) a matrix of criteria and classification of those exercises.
With regard to these set of technical-military variables and indicators tending to systematize and classify the combined military exercises executed during the mentioned time period, the tasks were focused on the analysis and diagnosis of the situation and on the recorded trends. In this sense, the main dimensions that were analyzed refer to the bilateral/multilateral nature of the exercises; the participating nations; its specific or joint character; the profile concerning its concrete execution (ground or “cabinet”); and their corresponding hypothesis of employment.
